Sweet and Spicy Chili with the Best Fixings

On those days where the cold wind comes in after a few days of warm weather, you just need some belly warming comfort food. And that is where this sweet and spicy chili comes in! This past week we had some brutally cold wind that brought in some more snow. The cold weather came after some really nice days, so it was a shock. All I wanted was some nice weather. But since that was not going to happen, I made up a pot of my delicious chili! This chili is the perfect comfort food when the weather turns cold.

The balance of sweet and spicy is perfect in this recipe. And it isn’t too spicy that kids can’t enjoy it – my kids just add in sour cream to tone it down just a little bit. My kids even liked this when they were babies (I did add less spice when they were under one). And babies eating chili is just so cute because they get so messy – everywhere! Maybe not everyone loves messy babies, but I think it is so cute.

And when you serve chili, you must serve it with sour cream, cheese, green onions and the secret ingredient – chips! Growing up, we would always eat it with bread and butter. Which was good, but not GREAT like this. A few years ago, my sister-in-law served her chili with all the delicious fixings and I was blown away. I will never go back. To many of you, this may not be new. But to those that have never tried it with chips (tortilla chips, corn chips or doritoes), you really should. It made me go from thinking chili was sort of good, to “I love chili!”.

So try dish up this super easy, perfectly balanced sweet and spicy chili tonight. And don’t forget all the fixings!
